Final Posting- due by Friday, March 16, 2012

In this final posting, reflect on what you have learned about the culture of German-speaking countries. Go back and re-read your first posting.  Then compare your perceptions from your initial posting on this blog, where you knew less about German culture than you do now, to your more informed perceptions at the end of the class.  Consider what you know about German culture compared to what you know about American culture.

As you write this final reflection, organize your reflection with the following points:

1. Characterize the culture of German speaking countries, based on the articles you read, and the ones analyzed by your classmates.

2. Compare and/or contrast what you have learned about German culture to American culture.  Write this comparison as an academic observation that does not label either as better than the other. 

3. Given your research on German-speaking cultures, describe your observation about the cultural similarities and differences among the German speaking different countries of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein/Luxemburg.

4. Analyze how your understanding of German speaking cultures has changed over the past 10 weeks.  Be sure to give a specific example to illustrate how your understanding has changed.  Give an example of a new insight you have about German speaking cultures as a result of this analysis.

Please craft a careful analysis of 500-1000 words.  Please do not exceed 1000 words. 1000 words is about the equivalent of 3 double spaced pages, or a page and half single spaced.
